Peg Alford of North Bay Writers sent out a note with some great upcoming events today! Here’s a snippet from her update:
“Why There Are Words on June 13 will be extra special as Glen David Gold reads from Jon Wells’ newly published novel, He Died All Day Long. Last week Jon passed away after a long battle with cancer the past year. A dear and beloved friend, he worked to finish the book he started years ago, and he did it. Last Thursday, a little more than 24 hours before he was gone, he held the printed proof in his hands. Why There Are Words presents a host of marvelous writers and readers, including Rob Yardumian, coming from Portland to celebrate publication of his debut novel. From Baltimore, Jen Michalski, and from VA, Andrea Pitzer. But we’re not just all national, you know. We’ve got locals Vicente Viray, Seth Harwood, Melanie Abrams, Jon Bollard, and LA-based Mariah K. Young. Hope to see you there!
Are you writing a novel? Do you want some expert help? I do mean expert. Kevin McIlvoy — or Mc, as most call him — will be offering the 2013 Novelist’s Workout in Taos in early October. The deadline to apply — only 12 lucky participants will be accepted — is August 2. But, really, you won’t want to let this opportunity get away from you. I can’t recommend Mc highly enough. Check out all the details on his website.”
