Results-oriented and resourceful, well-organized and efficient self-starter, able to work independently needed by an environmental author/consultant (Ph.D.) to help market new books on climate change and assist with publishing and research tasks. You will need to have the following skills and abilities: Strong internet research skills and general computer savvy as well as ability to successfully manage competing tasks. Good telephone and people skills for building rapport with environmental groups. Good writing skills. Knowledge of marketing, publishing, environmental & natural resource issues desirable but not essential. BA/BS or grad. degree helpful but not required.
This is an exceptional opportunity to learn about publishing, marketing, sales, printing, design, mass media, environmental, energy, and climate issues, limited only by your energy and skills, while working in Berkeley only 15 minutes from campus. Tasks include marketing and publicizing books; bulk sales; assisting with on-line and library research and office tasks as needed. Telephoning people, organizations, and constituencies per our marketing strategy and book marketing plans.Expanding our databases. Offering and sending review copies to reviewers and bloggers. Drafting blog posts; developing social marketing strategies and assisting with social marketing. Updating and modifying websites; create web pages if proficient; encouraging other organizations to post links to it. Performing simple search engine optimization. Helping to prepare simple marketing tools, such as announcements, order forms, flyers, descriptive materials, etc. Reading recommended training materials on book marketing.
On average 15 hrs./week & occasionally up to 20 as needed
$12/hr. to start with possibility of increases based on merit and also bonuses
