Did you make it out to 111 Minna to schmooze with editors from Publishers Weekly in July? If you weren’t able to make it to this SOLD OUT event (seriously folks, get those RSVPs in early, we can’t stress it enough!), here are some highlights that you may not have heard through the grapevine:
- PW has hired a new West Coast contributor, and Publisher Cevin Bryerman announced that the magazine will launch a new West-Coast-focused issue starting in 2015. We can’t wait!
- If you aren’t using GalleyTracker to check in on whether your galleys have been chosen for review by PW, sign up pronto. The service is free, and PW editors will appreciate fewer emails in their inboxes!
- The Bay Area Book Festival is shaping up to be a stellar event in 2015! BABF founder Cherilyn Parsons announced that the event will take place in Berkeley on the Cal campus, and will feature a street festival as well as panels and stage presentations. We hope all local publishers will consider sponsoring this event.
- Longtime publishing alum David Cole announced this year’s Butterfield Scholarship winner. Congratulations, Ally Power! We can’t wait to hear about your experience with the Professional Sequence in Editing course at UC Berkeley Extension.
AND, the BIG NEWS from Book Promotion Forum and Books & Booze?
We enjoy working together on these events so much, we decided that it was time for two to become one (that’s a vague way of saying that Books & Booze has “acquired” BPF…so to speak). Publishers Weekly has the official release. We’re now all under the BayPub umbrella. What does this mean? We’ll keep you updated on the changes as they happen, but right now, it just means even more great things ahead.
Here’s just a sampling of the photos from the event. but you can see all of them on the BPF Facebook page.
